Salem Celebrated its 130th anniversary on July 13
It was a beautiful day for Salems anniversary celebration. The sun shone and the Canadian forest fire smoke was gone. Friends, family, and former members returned to fill the church for the 10 am service, which was led by Pastor Marijo Vik, SAM. The congregation sang some favorite hymns, i.e. A Mighty Fortress is Our God, Blessed Assurance. The service emphasized the 130 years of God's grace. Following the singing of table grace, WELCA served a delicious hotdish meal. The anniversary program began at 1pm with some new people coming and some morning folks leaving.Former pastors in attendance gave welcomes, updates, and memories of Salem. Bill Tesch, NW ELCA bishop, sent a video greeting. A video history of Salem was presented by Alice Hofstad. The day ended with coffee and bars and lots of visiting.
